The short version
- The game is free. There is nothing to buy with real money — gold and gems are in-game numbers only.
- Play fair: no modified clients, no bots, no exploiting bugs. Matches are simulated on our server, so cheating mostly just desynchronises your own screen.
- You need to be 13 or older.
- Your account, your cards and your trophies are a licence to play, not property. We can close an account that breaks these rules.
1. Who we are, and how to reach us
Vanguard Realm is a game made and run independently by one person. It is not a company.
For anything about the game: our Discord server. For account, legal or privacy matters: support@vanguardrealm.com.
2. Accepting these terms
Playing the game means you accept these terms. If you do not, do not play. If you are under the age at which you can agree to terms yourself where you live, you need a parent or guardian to agree for you.
3. Age
You must be at least 13 years old to play. We do not ask your age and we have no way to verify it, so this is a condition you agree to rather than something we check. If we learn that an account belongs to someone younger, we will remove it.
4. Your account
- You sign in with Google or Discord, or with an email address and password.
- One account per email address. The server enforces this.
- Keep your sign-in to yourself. Anything done from your account is treated as done by you.
- There is no password reset — the game has no mail system at all. If you use an email-and-password account and forget the password, that account cannot be recovered. Signing in with Google or Discord avoids this entirely, which is why they are offered first.
- You can delete your account yourself at any time, in the game or on this website. See Delete your account for how, and what it removes.
5. Fair play
Do not:
- modify the game, or use a modified or automated client;
- use bots, scripts or anything else that plays for you;
- exploit a bug for gain instead of reporting it;
- interfere with the servers, or attempt to make the game unavailable to other players;
- buy, sell, rent or share accounts;
- choose a display name that is abusive, impersonates somebody, or is otherwise obviously unacceptable.
Worth knowing rather than threatening: every match is simulated on our own server from the same code your client runs. A modified client mostly changes the picture on its own screen — the crowns, the result and the trophies come from the server’s own simulation. Currencies, trophies, card levels and prices are all decided server-side and never taken from what a client sends.
If you break these rules we may reset progress, suspend an account, or close it. For anything other than a clear-cut case we will tell you why.
6. Who you play against
In a Normal or a Ranked match, if no other player is available, you may be matched against a computer-controlled opponent. Computer-controlled players keep records of their own and appear on the leaderboard, and a Ranked match against one moves your trophies the same way a match against another player does.
7. Money, and the absence of it
The game is free to play and takes no payments. There is no store that charges money, no payment processor, and no card or billing details anywhere in the game.
Gold and gems are in-game numbers with no monetary value. They cannot be bought, cashed out, transferred, or exchanged for anything outside the game. Because nothing is ever purchased with money, there is nothing to refund.
If that ever changes, these terms will change first and the change will be announced in the game before anything can be bought.
8. What belongs to whom
The game, its code, its name and its artwork belong to us or to the artists we licensed the art from. Your account, your collection, your trophies and your cosmetics are a personal, revocable licence to use them inside the game. They are not property, they have no monetary value, and they cannot be sold or transferred.
Streaming, recording and making videos of your own play is welcome and needs no permission.
9. The game will change
Cards get retuned, arenas get added, prices and rewards get adjusted, and sometimes a card that was strong becomes ordinary. That is part of a live game rather than a defect, and it can affect a collection you have invested in. Significant changes are listed in the game’s What’s New panel.
We may also change or discontinue parts of the game, or the whole of it. It is run independently and it depends on one person continuing to be able to run it. If it ever has to shut down, we will give as much notice as we reasonably can.
10. What we do not promise
The game is provided as it is, without warranties of any kind. We do not promise that it will always be available, that matchmaking will always be fair, that it will be free of bugs, or that your progress can never be lost. To the extent the law where you live allows it, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from playing, and our total liability to you is limited to what you have paid us — which, as section 7 explains, is nothing.
Nothing here takes away rights you have by law that cannot be waived.
11. Ending it
You can stop playing at any time, and delete your account whenever you choose. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, or if we have to shut the game down.
12. Governing law
These terms deliberately do not name a governing law or a court. The game is run independently and is available worldwide, and the mandatory consumer protections of the country you live in apply to you regardless of anything written here. If a governing law is added later, the date at the top of this page will change and the change will be announced in the game.
13. Changes to these terms
If these terms change, the date at the top changes with it, and a material change will be announced in the game’s What’s New panel and in the Discord server. Continuing to play after a change means accepting it.
